Well baking has been taking a bit of a backseat in my house lately. My husband is recovering from major cancer surgery so he is on a very restrictive diet so baking would be just downright mean. So instead of baking I have been cooking up these really cute Cookie Cutter Ornaments. The reason they are called Cookie Cutter Ornaments is that I used cookie cutters for the pattern as I can not draw worth a bean.
You can find inspiration for all kinds of crafts all over the place. These hand-embroidered ornaments resemble my Christmas Sugar Cookies. All I did was use felt instead of cookie dough and embroidery thread instead of icing and the result is a very pretty ornament to hang on the tree or attach to a gift.
They would also make a very wintery key chain embellishment, not sure how well they would stand up to the elements though. If you aren’t familiar with embroidery stitches it really isn’t that difficult. Lots of videos on YouTube to help you along. I used running stitches for the snowflakes and the blanket stitch to attach the front to the back. Little seed glass beads add just a bit of glitter and sparkle.
My preference is the pastel colours, but of course that is just me. The Christmas coloured ones are pretty too, but too traditional for my taste. I hope you spread your wings and try something new. You never know when you will discover a new passion that will keep your hands busy during the winter months.
