My children would tell you that I’ve been baking for as long as they can remember: the sound of the kitchen aid mixer running early in the morning is a constant sound in our home. My co-workers would tell you much the same thing, as would friends. I would tell you that I love to bake, embroider and paint with water colours.
I love to bake at our cottage which we are now lucky to call our full-time home. There, by the lake, you’ll find Chateau Elma: a small tree house where my children spent much of their time when they were young, imagining and creating. My kitchen is my Chateau Elma: the place where I spend time experimenting with recipes and using my creative energy in a way that brings my family and friends together.
Now that my children are adults and on their own, it is so rewarding to have them return home and spend time cooking and baking together. Even more enjoyable is when I get the call asking how to make something – they are both excellent cooks! I am one proud mama!
I started this blog as a way to chronicle my culinary adventures, both within Chateau Elma and beyond. Since baking, cooking, and crafting make me happy, I hope I can share that with all of you. I hope this blog inspires you to spend time in your kitchen – or whatever space it is that brings you joy.
